Combating sexual and gender-based violence in France

Supporting an Awareness Campaign Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Among Youth in France

Sexual and gender-based violence is a widespread issue in middle and high schools across France. Sadly, such behavior is often trivialized — an unsolicited touch, the online sharing of an intimate photo of a girl, sexist insults, or coerced sexual activity. Yet the consequences for victims are deeply serious.

The Centre Hubertine Auclert launched the awareness campaign #NeverWithoutMyConsent (#PlusJamaisSansMonAccord), co-funded by the Jeankerber Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, in partnership with the Île-de-France Regional Council.

Aimed at teenagers, the campaign seeks to combat gender-based and sexual violence. It includes content specifically created for social media, printed brochures and posters, and media outreach. Campaign posters were placed in youth-centered locations: high schools, libraries, legal access points, youth information centers, social centers, family planning centers, municipal health clinics, local employment support offices, youth associations, and sports facilities commonly used by teens.

In addition, the Centre Hubertine Auclert partnered with four well-known social media influencers, popular among adolescents, to help identify and challenge these forms of violence.

In less than four months, the campaign generated over 2.5 million impressions and engaged more than 119,000 young people on social media.
