Helping the poor in Luxembourg through social grocery shops.
Poverty is rife in Luxembourg, affecting one person in five. Cent Buttek, a non-profit association set up in 2009, redistributes food products from supermarkets to the needy through its three social grocery shops. Their mission is to combat food waste while serving families in need. In total, around 700 tonnes of food are collected and redistributed each year by Cent Buttek.
In order to carry out this mission, in 2024 the Fondation de la Grande Loge du Luxembourg contributed to the purchase of a refrigerated van to enable Cent Buttek's volunteer drivers to transport food products in suitable conditions.
