Film festivals can be powerful tools for increasing cultural understanding. By presenting the works of diverse filmmakers, actors and artists, they encourage spectators to connect with experiences beyond their own and to view social issues through a new lens. 

In Luxembourg, both the British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg (BIFFL) and CinEast (Central and Eastern European Film Festival) festivals provide annual platforms for international filmmakers to bring together diverse audiences and to facilitate discussion and dialogue between them through dedicated programmes of panels and Q+A sessions.
