Established in 2002 by the will of the late Anita van Werveke, the Auguste van Werveke-Hanno Foundation awards scholarships to Luxembourgish students or residents of Luxembourg pursuing studies in architecture or fine arts. The foundation was created in memory of the founder’s father, Auguste van Werveke-Hanno, who was a drawing teacher at the State School of Crafts. In July 2021, the foundation became a sheltered foundation under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, which now manages its administrative and financial operations.
The scholarships, currently amounting to €5,000, are awarded based on the quality of the applicant’s portfolio, extracurricular activities and motivation, academic performance in their field of study, and their progress in their studies. Individual interviews are conducted with candidates who pass the first stage of selection.
The laureates for the 2022/2023 academic year are Luna Wirtz-Ortvald, a student in fine arts/design; Mohammed Zanboa, a student in architecture; Emma Malea Noll, a student in architecture; and Mathieu Bubert, a student in architecture/urban planning.
