The Fondation de Luxembourg proudly announces a major milestone in its history: the establishment of its 100th sheltered foundation. The launch of this latest foundation highlights the growing interest in structured philanthropic engagement.
The recently signed Peter und Barbara Bittmann Stiftung brings the Fondation de Luxembourg to the symbolic threshold of 100 foundations created under its umbrella. This new foundation is dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for children, adolescents, and young adults, and joins a wide array of foundations under the Fondation de Luxembourg, all active in diverse sectors across the globe.
“Reaching the 100-foundation mark underscores the added value of the Fondation de Luxembourg for donors, who benefit from personalised guidance along with continuous support for their philanthropic initiatives,” said Tonika Hirdman, Director General of the Fondation de Luxembourg. “We are proud to contribute to the momentum of European philanthropy and to help position Luxembourg as an attractive hub for long-term philanthropic engagement with today’s pressing challenges.”
This milestone follows a series of significant events in the foundation’s history, including the €100 million dedicated to public interest causes reached in 2014, the receipt of tax-exempt status in France in 2017, the celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2019, and in 2020, a record €10 million disbursed to over 300 public-interest projects. All supported initiatives are selected in close collaboration with the foundations’ creators, nearly half of whom are international residents.
