"Women and Philanthropy: A Virtuous Circle for Addressing Society’s Challenges?"

Encouraging collaboration between foundations, promoting the sharing of best practices, and exchanging on common challenges are constant ambitions of the Fondation de Luxembourg, aimed at strengthening philanthropic engagement. In this spirit, regular Founders’ Roundtables are held, bringing together the founders of hosted foundations around a topical theme. This year, around ten founders, representing foundations active in development, education, social entrepreneurship, and culture, took part in a morning of rich discussion.

David Waroquier, co-founder of The Mangrove Foundation, was invited to present the foundation’s journey and commitments, particularly its strong focus on women’s empowerment, capacity building, and sustainable development.

The discussions explored why women are powerful drivers of change and how development programs increasingly rely on women to strengthen their impact and contribute to achieving the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conversation also highlighted the role of women in developed countries, especially in social entrepreneurship, where they represent over 70% of participants in Luxembourg, playing a significant role in driving this emerging sector forward.

As every year, the roundtable concluded with a lunch, allowing participants to continue the conversation in an informal setting.

Fondation Alliances du Vivant, Atoz Foundation, Fondation EIFA, Fondation Jos et Mimieke, Fondation Linckels-Voss, The Mangrove Foundation, Fondation R : des révolutions minuscules pour réparer la société, Fondation Tremplin.
