Two students in fine arts and two in architecture have been selected to receive a scholarship from the Auguste van Werveke-Hanno Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The scholarship award ceremony took place on 11 March 2022 at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, in the presence of Tonika Hirdman, Director General of the Fondation de Luxembourg.

Established in 2002 by the will of the late Anita van Werveke-Hanno, the Auguste van Werveke-Hanno Foundation awards scholarships to Luxembourgish students or residents of Luxembourg pursuing studies in architecture or fine arts. It was created in memory of the founder's father, Auguste van Werveke-Hanno, who was a drawing teacher at the State School of Crafts. In July 2021, the Foundation became a sheltered foundation under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, which now oversees its administrative and financial management. This year marks the first time the scholarships have been awarded under the Fondation de Luxembourg’s aegis.

The scholarships, currently amounting to €5,000, are awarded based on academic merit, the students’ progress in their studies, and their extracurricular projects related to their field of study.

The recipients for the 2021-2022 academic year are Lynn Scheidweiler and Catherine Duboutay in the field of fine arts, and Piotr Pawliszyn and Audrey Verstraeten in the field of architecture.
