The KARUNA Foundation is dedicated to advancing the well-being, safety, and development of children worldwide. In Nepali, “Karuna” (करुणा) means “compassion” or “empathy.” This term is often used to express a deep sense of care, kindness, and understanding toward others, particularly those who are suffering or in need. It is rooted in many South Asian cultures and is commonly associated with a compassionate mindset focused on helping others.

The acronym KARUNA also very well reflects the key purposes of the foundation:
