The Fondation de Luxembourg was created in December 2008 by the Luxembourg State and the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. Its mission is to promote private philanthropic commitment.
The structure was set up to meet the growing need for a centre of expertise in philanthropy in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and to encourage and facilitate philanthropic commitments made by private individuals and/or businesses.
By providing information and advice and by developing specific tools and structures, the Fondation de Luxembourg seeks to encourage, support and guide donors (both individuals and companies) who wish to make a long-term commitment to the development of significant philanthropic projects.
It therefore acts as an expert and adviser in every field in which donors express an interest and is an effective gateway to associations, NGOs and specialised organisations working on specific issues of general interest.
The Fondation de Luxembourg provides personalised accompaniment for philanthropic projects in a simplified framework and with the assurance of continuous follow-up.
“Philanthropy” is a vast concept and the question can best be answered with reference to the activities of the Fondation de Luxembourg.
We use the term philanthropy to denote every action taken in the public interest with aims of a permanent nature. It may therefore involve support for culture, education, research, humanitarian aid, development aid, social cohesion, healthcare, environmental problems or support for entrepreneurial initiatives which are designed to develop solutions to general problems.
As a public-benefit foundation and center of expertise in philanthropy, the Fondation de Luxembourg is committed to investing its endowment capital responsibly. Its aim is to focus on companies that demonstrate high standards and sound practices to reduce their social and environmental impact. The Fondation de Luxembourg firmly believes that attention to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors is essential for creating long-term value.
She also encourages the founders of hosted foundations to adopt these same principles, ensuring that responsible investment policies extend beyond the philanthropic activities they support.
Excellence is an essential part of our work ethic, expertise and professionalism.
Integrity is a core value embraced by every member of our team, fostering respect, honesty, transparency, and fairness.
We take responsibility for our actions, services, principles, and rules.
Commitment lies at the heart of the Fondation de Luxembourg. It is reflected in our deep understanding of the needs and expectations of our founders and partners. We are personally committed to every project initiated by our founders.
Team spirit, supported by a dedication to the growth of each team member, extends to our collaboration with founders and partners through the sharing of ideas and best practices.
