7 February 2024 - After extreme winter weather forced the postponement of its initial event in January, the Fondation de Luxembourg was finally able to celebrate its 15-year anniversary at the former Château ARBED, now “19 Liberté” of the BCEE in Luxembourg City, in the presence of HRH the Crown Prince Guillaume, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, former Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna, as well as foreign ambassadors.
The evening began with a welcome by a speech by the Chairman of the Fondation de Luxembourg Henri Grethen who also introduced a commemoration video, specially prepared for the occasion. Next, Prime Minister Luc Frieden offered a look back on the Fondation de Luxembourg’s early days, which he recalled with ease as the Fondation de Luxembourg’s first president. Tonika Hirdman, Director General of Fondation de Luxembourg later took the floor to present the achievements and perspectives for philanthropic engagement in the Grand Duchy in front of more than 200 guests who attended this special event.
Rounding out the programme were also the testimonials of three founders of foundations active under the aegis of Fondation de Luxembourg: Marie-Anne Werner (Fondation Pierre Werner), Benoît Tesch (Fondation La Violette) and Justin Griffiths (The Covenant Foundation), who were each invited to share with the audience their personal journeys in philanthropy. Finally, a moving musical performance by cellist and Fondation Michelle Scholarship winner Cyprien Keiser, provided an elegant end to the programme.
Guests then came together for a cocktail reception to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Fondation de Luxembourg.
