Since 2013, the Master in Wealth Management (MWM) programme has educated and trained students with skills related to finance and wealth management. This includes the philanthropic sector, whose importance is steadily increasing in the Grand Duchy and in Europe.
For the second year in a row, the class was offered in a hybrid format due to the COVID-19 pandemic; more than 30 students participated in the course both in-person and online. They gained a thorough insight in the motivations and expectations of today’s philanthropists, and how to meet these demands as part of a wealth management proposition. The students further explored the legal and fiscal context of cross border philanthropic giving, as well as various approaches and structures for efficient impact-driven philanthropy.
The course's ultimate objective is to ensure that the future generation of wealth management professionals are proficient in advising clients in terms of their philanthropic strategy and structuring.
Two guest-lecturers completed the course:
David Waroquier, Co-founder of the Mangrove Foundation provided a philanthropist's insight and experience, and Laura Foschi, CEO of ADA (Appui au Développement Autonome), gave an introduction to microfinance.
