CORONAFATE, Studying the behaviour of Sars-Cov-2 in Luxembourg's wastewater

Stiftung COVID-19 - ABGESCHLOSSEN

A research team at LIST is deepening their knowledge of the behaviour of SARS-CoV-2 in sewers in Luxembourg according to climatic conditions.

The prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in Luxembourg’s wastewater, as measured in the CORONASTEP+ project, offers us valuable clues on the pandemic’s evolution in our society, but the levels measured may be susceptible to changes in the weather, such as higher temperatures or heavy rains diluting the amount detected.

The Environmental Microbiology research team at the Luxembourg Institute of Science is currently investigating this question within the framework of the CORONAFATE project. More precisely, they are studying the persistence of the SARS-CoV-2 in sewers under different environmental conditions, such as temperature or flow rate.
