A team at the Luxembourg Institute of Health analyzed how the hormonal status of patients prior to an infection could be associated with the severity of their symptoms and possibly used as a predictive tool.
The research project, led by Dr Brice Appenzeller, used hair samples in order to analyze hormone levels and determine links with COVID-19 symptom severity. Thanks to the research, a new analytical method was elaborated for hormone analysis using just a single strand of hair.
