Promoting Artistic and Multicultural Creation in the Greater Region

Located in Trier, the European Academy of Fine Arts (Europäische Kunstakademie) has been offering education in nearly all fields of the visual arts for over 40 years. Welcoming students from across the Greater Region, the Academy fosters a multicultural and multilingual learning environment.

In recent years, the Marienburg Foundation has supported several EKA initiatives, including the European Summer Kunst Academy as part of Esch2022 – European Capital of Culture. Reflecting the everyday reality of life in this cross-border region—where cultures and identities intermingle—the Summer Academy offered courses in French, German, English, and Luxembourgish.

Other projects have focused on promoting and encouraging emerging artists, such as the “Thirties” art exhibitions, which spotlight artists from the Greater Region and explore themes such as geographic migration, cultural roots, and international connections evident in their work. These exhibitions are accompanied by public events and educational programs, including children’s activities and lectures.

Through this support, the Marienburg Foundation plays an active role in amplifying new artistic voices and fostering artistic creation throughout the Greater Region.
