For the past nine years, the Fondation de Luxembourg has regularly organized Philanthropy Adviser Events, bringing together wealth managers and advisors from the Luxembourg financial center to share sector insights and best practices in philanthropy, and to encourage them to engage their clients on this important topic.
In this context, a conference was held on Thursday, February 1st at the Cercle Munster, featuring a keynote by Hugo Mahieu, CEO of The Mangrove Foundation, which operates under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg and has just launched its 2.0 version. The foundation aims to transform the lives of 500,000 people over time. His presentation highlighted the importance of rigorous project evaluation from the outset, the development of impact measurement tools, and the need to be present on the ground to engage with local communities and respond directly to their needs.
In the second part of the event, attendees had the pleasure of hearing from Dr. Maximilian Martin, Executive Vice-President and Global Head of Philanthropy at Lombard Odier (Switzerland). He shared how the bank has developed a high-quality philanthropic offering for its clients. Dr. Martin spotlighted innovative partnerships with organizations such as The Global Fund and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)—a relationship with deep roots, dating back to the bank’s connection with Henry Dunant, the ICRC’s founder, in 1863. The discussion also touched on Lombard Odier’s collaborations with leading European hosting foundations, underscoring the bank’s strategic approach to philanthropy.
