Providing shelter and rehabilitation facilities to street children
Nicaragua, one of the poorest countries in Central America, has more than 5 million people under the age of 18. Many of these children have fled their homes because of domestic violence or poverty, and ended up in the streets.
The Los Quinchos project offers them protection from the dangers of the street. Thanks to a team of psychologists, doctors, educators and artisans-trainers, Los Quinchos provides these children with physical and psychological rehabilitation and helps them to build a future outside of the streets. Numerous workshops, courses and activities specifically designed to promote the rehabilitation of these children and adolescents are held on a regular basis. These activities include dance classes, crafting, farming instruction, board games, and reading.
