Life-saving aid for refugees in Sudan and Yemen

Across Sudan and Yemen, refugees endure a relentless struggle for safety and survival as war and instability continue to uproot entire communities. In Sudan, families fleeing brutal fighting often arrive at overcrowded camps with little more than what they can carry, facing hunger, disease, and the constant fear of renewed violence. In Yemen, years of conflict have forced millions into makeshift settlements where clean water, medical care, and stable shelter are painfully scarce. In both countries, displacement is not a single moment but an ongoing journey marked by loss, uncertainty, and the daily challenge of rebuilding life amid crisis.

Through its work, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provides essential support to refugees and internally displaced peoples (IDPs) around the globe. Its strategic priorities in Yemen include improving protection conditions and access to basic rights for forcibly displaced individuals, enhancing living conditions for vulnerable populations through expanded services and support for self-reliance, and supporting durable solutions through resettlement, safe return, and provision of essential services. In Sudan, its priorities include addressing urgent humanitarian crises affecting Sudanese refugees, including disease outbreaks, overcrowding in refugee camps, food shortages, and a lack of clean water.
